Does therapy help anxiety reddit
20 votes, 14 comments. Hi everyone I've been really struggling with my anxiety lately. It's always there, my brain is always overthinking, and it's. so lately i’ve had pretty bad anxiety which isn’t normal for me. i was wondering if anyone felt like therapy for their anxiety helped but without. Talk therapy can often help because many people with anxiety and certain disorders have learned very bad ways of thinking over the years. And many of them don't even realise how many bad patterns they have until someone helps them understand it. I've been thinking I need to go talk to someone because my anxiety is so bad. That makes me nervous cause I don't know if it'll help. I really don't feel like myself and have so many physical symptoms of anxiety like stomach in knots and chest tightness, other stomach issues and can't eat.

Redditors who are in therapy, does it help? Why or why not? does therapy ~actually~ help with social anxiety. I wonder if it’s the pandemic or this is more obvious to me now but i have an aggressive amount of social anxiety, to a point of practicing how to greet coworkers to getting anxious even at the thought of going to events post-covid. for those of you with similar issues, does therapy genuinely help? Last time I had therapy, I explained how anxious I felt in social and everyday life situations to my therapist and she looked at me like I was insane. Like she couldn’t believe someone was like this. All she did to “help” was give me breathing exercises to calm my anxiety. Not how to fix or get rid of it. Huge waste of time and money. Group therapy helps because you can ask people going through the same thing as you for advice. I guess one thing that helps is talking with the therapist helps clear your mind and people with anxiety don't have a clear mind. I guess it also helps you analyze your situation. I learn stuff about what triggers me and how I react in x situation. Don't let the fear of anxiety keep you from doing the things you want to do. Also understand that even if you have an anxiety attack, you're not actually in danger. I know it can feel that way and it can be embarrassing having an attack in public, but you'll be alright. Easier said than done, I know, but hopefully this helps someone. I was having anxiety episodes back to back, I used the techniques and tools my therapist gave to me and it worked. I calmed down and I’m feeling better not only physically but also mentally. I have to keep this up and I think I will be okay, I will be healthy again. Im just excited because I haven’t felt this good in a long time. 34 comments 444 Therapy depends on the recipient more than the therapist. If you are willing to get better and you take it seriously, you will. If you don't, then you are a lost cause. Usually, those who take the initiative to go to therapy themselves can come out well. This is less the case for people who are forced into therapy by a family member or whatnot.
